The Mega Millions jackpot has once again surged to an astonishing estimated $640 million after no one claimed the previous massive jackpot. On Friday night, the winning numbers were revealed to be 10, 24, 48, 51, 66, with the gold Mega Ball being 15.
For the next drawing, the $640 million prize will only be given out to a winner who chooses to receive it as an annuity paid over 29 years. However, most grand prize winners opt for a cash payout instead. For Tuesday night’s drawing, the cash payout is estimated to be a staggering $328 million.
This current jackpot is now the seventh largest in the history of Mega Millions, as stated by the lottery.
There were four tickets that managed to match all five white balls, claiming the second-place prize in the drawing. One lucky ticket, sold in South Carolina, included an optional multiplier, making it worth an impressive $2 million. Additionally, two tickets in California and one in North Carolina also won the second-tier prize, according to Mega Millions.
Despite the astonishing odds of 1 in 302.6 million, players are still enthusiastically purchasing tickets as the grand prize continues to grow.
The last time a Mega Millions player won the top prize was on April 18th.
Mega Millions is available to play in 45 states across the United States, including Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
